IDEA was activily involved in promoting ratification including lobbying the provincial government to agree to ratification at the earliest possible date.  Such agreement was required becase the CRPD applies to all levels of government (federal, provincial and municipal) in a federal state.  IDEA distributed a Handbook for Parliamentarians regarding the CRDP to members of the Legislative Assembly to promote understanding of the importance of the Convention.

Since ratification IDEA has been focused on achieving full implementation of the CRPD.  The attached letters to and from the provincial government represent only part of the correspondence related to this topic.  IDEA remains concerned that full and timely implementation does not appear to be a priority at all levels.
